The new camera gear

Well, 2013 was off to a shaky start when I injured my back just after Christmas. Therefore January was a month filled with doctor’s appointments, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and resting.  So birding was sadly at a standstill. However I used the time to plan ahead for my February trip, researching potential vagrants and also purchased a new camera and lens.

The new camera is so much lighter to carry! I’ve moved from Nikon D200 to Canon 600D. The difference? Well at present apart from the obvious weight difference, the Canon being a more recent camera has more pixels, the lens is faster and sharper, the view finder is larger and easier to see through and the  large bright swivel LCD screen is great! The Nikon is a great camera for its age and is weather proof which is a feature I will definitely miss.

Here are a handful of photos taken over the past few days as I get my head around my new kit.
